as Madelyn, a former love interest of Norman (Alan Arkin) who rekindles their relationship. Kominsky Method creator Chuck Lorre initially thought Seymour still looked too young for his senior citizen comedy.“I said, ‘Trust me, I can show you a picture of me with a gray wig,’” Seymour said. “Since I haven’t done any facial surgeries or anything like that, I am a 68-year-old, almost 69-year-old woman. I’m not that far off. I think I can age up. So that’s when he decided to let me play Alan’s love interest.”Arkin invited Seymour to brunch before they filmed love scenes together. He wanted to clear it with his wife first.“He took me to some old Hollywood place somewhere in Burbank which I’ve never been to which is obviously his favorite place where he knows exactly what he orders,” Seymour said. “He just wanted to make sure that his wife was okay with this. It was so cute. She and I became great pals.”Meanwhile, Lisa (Nancy Travis) wants to scale back her relationship with Sandy. She suggests they take sex off the table, and Sandy isn’t comfortable just being friends with a woman.“Well, they had not been platonic friends,” Douglas said. “Once you’re intimate and then say, ‘Let’s just be platonic,’ that sounds like that relationship is definitely going in a different direction. I guess, for a man, it’s his ego. He’s offended, and somehow he’d like to imagine that she can’t be without me.”Seymour agrees that because Sandy and Lisa have been intimate before, they can’t go back.“I think it’s very difficult when you’ve had a sexual relationship with someone to suddenly call it platonic,” Seymour said. “If you have those kind of feelings, you’re trying to stop them. I don’t think it works very well. There’s more drama in Sandy’s acting class too. Darshani (Jenna Lyng Adams) finally lets her wall down and reveals the trauma she’s been burying.“Those actors were very patient, my students, for the first season, not having a whole lot to do,” Douglas said. “I’ve always wondered, as I was watching them both as the acting teacher that I’m playing but also just as an actor, wondering how good they really were. [Adams] was really impressive to watch her in a powerful role.”Sandy ends up performing a scene from Doubt with Darshani. Sandy reads the role of Father Brendan Flynn, a priest accused of molesting a boy, while Darshani plays Sister Aloysius.“I thought about it as an audition in which the actress was auditioning,” Douglas said. “I was supporting her and trying to create both how it was staged and otherwise, to accentuate her and give her the best ability. I love the whole circle of her having to actually work with me and being intimidated and overcoming that, and actually just kicking ass.”Health issues continue to face Sandy in the second season, too. While Douglas relates, he hopes a possible third season can find Sandy with a clean bill of health.“Health issues become an integral part of your life and you deal with them accordingly,” Douglas said. “I’m hoping if we go to a third season that I will have passed through the mustard. I’m off to a new cycle of 10 years of good health. We’ll see.”After season 2 of The Kominsky Method, young Netflix binge watchers will hear Douglas’s voice in Green Eggs and Ham. Douglas plays the voice of Guy Am I, whom Sam I Am (Adam Devine) keeps trying to convince to try to the titular food.“You just have to be much larger than life than you imagine yourself,” Douglas said. “You really have to be almost cartoonish-like in your voiceover for it to match with the characters. Although I like Guy because he’s such a nasty guy; he’s so pessimistic about everything, so that part is sort of fun.”Douglas had not heard of Marvel’s plans for the animated What If…? series, in which a few MCU stars will provide the voices of their live-action characters in one-off stories speculating on alternate histories of their adventures. Douglas wants in.“I don’t even know the What If series,” Douglas said. “Let me call my agent when we get out of here.”The Kominsky Method season 2 premieres Friday, October 25 on Netflix.

Additionally, beginning in 2022, original films developed and produced exclusively for Peacock by Universal Pictures will also premiere on the service.  (Note: Rotten Tomatoes is a division of NBCUniversal, like Peacock and Universal Filmed Entertainment.) In related news, Prime Video and IMDb TV have signed a multi-year licensing deal with Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. Prime Video will have an exclusive pay-one window for UFEG’s slate of live-action films in the U.S. starting with the 2022 release slate and will also receive rights to a package of UFEG’s library movies. IMDb TV, Amazon’s premium free streaming service, has also secured an exclusive network-window for films from UFEG’s 2020-2021 theatrical slate and rights to a package of animated titles.Meanwhile, Peacock also announced a new original series, Pride Prejudice: An Experiment in Romance, a reality dating series obviously inspired by the success of Netflix’s Bridgerton, in which “a heroine looking for her duke” and a group of dudes will be “transported to a Regency-style England” and housed in a castle in the countryside, where “the heroine and suitors will experience that with which dreams are made of. From carriage rides and boat rides on the lake to archery and handwritten letters to communicate, they will be immersed in a time-traveling quest for love. In the end, our heroine and her suitors will discover if the ultimate romantic experience will find them true love.” Wannabe contestants, er, “heroines and suitors,” can apply to be on the series in this lengthy document.Showtime Networks has extended a deal with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Partners that will mean additional Amblin films will air across Showtime channels and streaming service. The upcoming Amblin movies included: Spielberg’s untitled film starring Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen; Distant, starring Anthony Ramos and Naomi Scott; Easter Sunday, starring comedian Jo Koy; and Last Voyage of the Demeter, starring Corey Hawkins.50 Cent’s G-Unit Film Television is developing Unrapped, an ABC reality series in which celebrity contestants are coached by iconic hip-hop mentors, and then compete in rap battles until a king or queen is crowned. (Deadline)(Photo by Angela Weiss/AFP via Getty Images)Greg Berlanti (pictured), who currently has 14 series produced by his company on the air, and Sarah Schechter, Berlanti Productions’ chairperson and partner, have formed Berlanti/Schechter Films, a collaboration that includes a first-look deal for feature films at Netflix. Among Berlanti’s current series include the Netflix drama You, soon to premiere its third season, and the recently concluded Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. (Deadline)TBS will air Wipeout: The Suicide Squad Special on Aug. 1, with Suicide Squad director James Gunn and cast members  Nathan Fillion, Joel Kinnaman, David Dastmalchian, and Daniela Melchior joining their movie co-star, Wipeout co-host John Cena, in a special episode of the obstacle course series.CNN’s new eight-episode History of the Sitcom series premieres July 11 with back-to-back episodes “A Family Matter,” which examines how sitcoms have evolved to reflect the changing face of American families, and “Sex the Sitcom,” exploring the revolution of sex in sitcoms, including the integration of LGBTQ+ storylines in representing a more modern world.Rupert Murdoch is launching Fox Weather, a 24-hour streaming weather network later this year, while the Weather Channel will also launch a streaming service, Weather Channel Plus. (The New York Times)Robert and Michelle King (The Good Fight) have signed a new five-year overall producing deal with CBS under their King Size Productions banner, which gives the network exclusive rights to produce content created by the Kings across all platforms.Comic-Con@Home To Feature The Wheel of Time, The Walking Dead, Doctor Who, Rick and Morty, and More Panels(Photo by Adult Swim)Comic-Con International: San Diego will once again be virtual, and networks are beginning to announce details of their panels for the July 23-25 Comic-Con at Home. This week s Ketchup brings you more headlines from the world of film development news, covering a big week for movies based on video games and DC Comics. This WEEK S TOP STORYJOHN WICK DIRECTOR TO ADAPT SAMURAI VIDEO GAME GHOST OF TSUSHIMA(Photo by Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection, Sony Interactive Entertainment)John Wick (Certified Fresh at 86%) came out just seven years ago, but in that relaively short time, its three main creators have had several other hits (including the two John Wick sequels, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Fast Furious Presents: Hobbs Shaw, and this week s Nobody). Director Chad Stahelski has spent most of that time working on the John Wick franchise, including next year s John Wick: Chapter 4 (5/27/2022), but this week, we learned of a new project. Following the critical and box office successes of Pokemon Detective Pikachu (Fresh at 67%) and Sonic the Hedgehog (Fresh at 63%), Hollywood is increasingly looking at other video game adaptations, and so Chad Stahelski is now attached to direct Sony Pictures Ghost of Tsushima, based on the popular 2020 samurai video game. Ghost of Tsushima now joins a slate of video game adaptations that Sony Pictures has in the works that includes Uncharted (2/11/2022) starring Tom Holland, Metal Gear Solid starring Oscar Isaac, and The Last of Us as a series for HBO Max. Other projects that Stahelski is developing include a Highlander reboot and the John Wick spinoff Ballerina.Other Top Headlines1. THE SUICIDE SQUAD TRAILER REVEALS JAWS-SIZED SYLVESTER STALLONE ROLE (Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)The arrival last week of Zack Snyder s Justice League (Fresh at 73%) seems to have put an end-of-sentence period on one part of the DC Extended Universe as Warner Bros. prepares to move on to other movies like The Flash (11/4/2022) and this year s The Suicide Squad (8/6/2021), which ended up being directed by James Gunn following a brief kerfuffle over Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in 2018. Warner Bros. quickly swooped in and nabbed Gunn, and this week, the first (red band) trailer The Suicide Squad debuted online. In addition to all of these cool character posters and the reveal of Starro as the movie s main super villain threat, we also now know that King Shark will be voiced by Sylvester Stallone, who had a brief cameo in Gunn s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. The timing of this trailer comes just days after WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff confirmed that there are no plans to revisit David Ayer s Suicide Squad (reportedly Ayer s original take was darker in tone than the released edit) in a way similar to Zack Snyder s Justice League, and also that there are no plans to #RestoreTheSynderVerse either. Finally, speaking of DC Comics movies that aren t going to happen, Joe Manganiello confirmed this week that the solo Ben Affleck Batman movie, if it had happened, would not only have featured him as the anti-hero Deathstroke, but would also have introduced a new Batgirl as Batman s sidekick.2. PIERCE BROSNAN CAST AS DC COMICS SORCERER DOCTOR FATE IN BLACK ADAM (Photo by Jonathan Prime/©Universal Studios)Going as far back as the 1940s, when Aquaman was introduced two years after Marvel s Sub-Mariner was a big hit first, DC Comics and Marvel Comics have had competing characters with similar powers or names (The Atom vs Ant-Man, Wonder Woman vs Wonder Man, Swamp Thing vs Man-Thing, etc.). Marvel fans all know Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange now, but that mystical character s introduction in 1963 actually came 23 years after DC Comics similarly named sorcerer, Doctor Fate. Doctor Fate was a founding member of the Justice Society of America, which is going to be introduced to the big screen soon in Dwayne Johnson s Black Adam, and this week, we learned that Doctor Fate s human alter ego Kent Nelson will be played by former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan. This makes Brosnan the second Bond to join a DC Comics project after Timothy Dalton, who plays the Chief in HBO s Doom Patrol. Brosnan s fellow JSA members will include Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Black Adam has faced a number of filming delays in the last few years (most recently due to COVID-19, obviously), but Dwayne Johnson posted an update this week that filming is expected to start in three weeks.3. MAGICAL DC COMCS SUPERHERO ZATANNA IS ALSO A PROMISING YOUNG WOMAN (Photo by JA/Everett Collection)Doctor Fate wasn t the only magical DC Comics superhero to make the news this week. Just last week, an investor day image revealed that Warner Bros. was developing a Zatanna movie, and this week, the project was officially confirmed in a proper fashion, with a surprising choice that probably caught many people pleasantly off guard. Director and screenwriter Emerald Fennel (who s also known as an actress for her role as Camilla Parker-Bowles on Netflix s The Crown) currently has three Academy Award nominations (for Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Picture) for her feature film directorial debut Promising Young Woman (Certified Fresh at 90%). Studios often swoop in on Oscar winners after the fact, but the particularly astute ones make these moves before the awards are handed out, and that s what Warner Bros. and Bad Robot have done by hiring Emerald Fennell to adapt their magical superhero movie Zatanna. First introduced in the comics in 1964, Zatanna is a long-time member of the Justice League of America who casts spells by saying what she wants to happen backwards (for example, Stnap Ruoy Pord Namtab! might be embarassing for Bruce Wayne), but Zatanna has never been depicted in a live-action film. It s not yet known if Fennell will also direct Zatanna, or if she might even star as Zatanna or another supporting character.4. DAME HELEN MIRREN TO TAKE ON VILLAIN ROLE IN SHAZAM: FURY OF THE GODS (Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)One of the high points of Dame Helen Mirren s early film career was her portrayal of the evil sorceress Morgana Le Fay in Excalibur (Certified Fresh at 80%), and now, 40 years later, she has signed on to play another magical villain. In a somewhat unusual move, the role that Mirren will be playing in the upcoming sequel Shazam: Fury of the Gods (6/2/2023) does not appear to be directly lifted from any of the 70 years of actual Shazam comic books. Instead, the villain Hespera appears to be a new creation, although she is described as being the daughter of Atlas, who is the first A of the anagram Shazam that gives Billy Batson his powers (the stamina of Atlas, specifically). It s not yet known if Atlas or any of the other characters in the anagram will also appear in the sequel. Something that is curious about Hespera being described as the main villain in Shazam: Fury of the Gods, however, is that it differs from the teaser at the end of Shazam!, which suggested that the next major villain would be Mister Mind.5. SALLY HAWKINS AND STEVE COOGAN TO FIND THE LOST KING (Photo by Priscilla Grant/Everett Collection)One of the most surprising history-based news stories of the last ten years was arguably the 2012 discovery of the bones of King Richard III under a parking lot in England. Now, the true story of how that all went down is being adapted as a comedy drama called The Lost King, to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Stephen Frears (High Fidelity, Philomena). This week, Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) signed on to play the historian who discovered the remains, with Steve Coogan playing her husband (and also co-writing the screenplay). Hawkins is also currently filming the Princess Diana biopic Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart, in which she is expected to be portraying a fictional or composite character (although most of the cast are indeed based on real people).6. SETH ROGEN TO PLAY STEVEN SPIELBERG S FAVORITE UNCLE (Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)Just two weeks ago, we first learned that Steven Spielberg will soon be directing an unusually biographical film about his life as a child and teenager in Arizona falling in love with the art of filmmaking. Michelle Williams was announced right away as being cast as Spielberg s mother, and this week, another member of the director s movie family has also been cast. Seth Rogen, who previously starred alongside Williams in Take This Waltz (Certified Fresh at 79%), has been cast to play Spielberg s favorite uncle in the currently untitled drama. Spielberg and his casting agents are currently searching for the young actors to play the young Spielberg (who won t be named Steven in the movie) and his friends in 1950s and 1960s Arizona. The drama is expected to start filming on location this summer and be finished in time for a late 2022 release (about a year after Spielberg s West Side Story remake on 12/10/2021).7. JAKE GYLLENHAAL TO STAR IN AFGHANISTAN WAR TRUE STORY COMBAT CONTROL (Photo by Anne Marie Fox/TM & ©Copyright Fox Searchlight)Although Netflix seems to have received more media attention over the last few years as a major winner of film auctions, according to Deadline, MGM has taken over that position since the beginning of 2021, and the old school studio continued that aggressive stance this week by winning another hotly sought film rights package. MGM is in final talks to acquire the rights to Combat Control, a war drama to be based on the true story of Medal of Honor recipient John Chapman of the United States Air Force. Jake Gyllenhaal will star as Chapman, who received a posthumous Medal of Honor for his role as a combat controller in Afghanistan in 2002, with the film focusing on the 15 years it took for Chapman s commendation to be upgraded to the Medal of Honor, making him the first airman to receive the medal since the Vietnam War.8. TV SHOW BEWITCHED TO GET A SECOND NOSE WIGGLE (Photo by Everett Collection)Hollywood has been regularly adapting old TV shows into movies since the 1980s (Dragnet was an early example). The results haven t always been great, though, such as the 2005 movie Bewitched (Rotten at 24%), starring Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman, based on the popular 1960s show. What s less common is for a studio to actually make a second attempt at adapting such a show after the first movie has disappointing returns, but that is exactly what Sony Pictures is doing with Bewitched. Sony Pictures has hired TV showrunners Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett (MacGyver, 12 Monkeys) to start working on a new Bewitched feature film screenplay. Rather than the meta approach of the Will Ferrell movie, this Bewitched is expected to be a closer adaptation of the original show s premise of a witch who settles into suburban domesticity after falling in love with a non-magical advertising executive. Between Zatanna at Warner Bros. and Bewitched at Sony, one has to guess that WandaVision (Fresh at 91%) is having an immediate influence.9. RAMPAGE DIRECTOR TO ADAPT ANOTHER VIDEO GAME WITH SNIPER ELITE(Photo by James Atoa/Everett Collection)Ghost of Tsushima was not the only video game adaptation to make the news this week. Brad Peyton, who has directed Dwayne Johnson three times in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (Rotten at 45%), San Andreas (Rotten at 49%) and the old school arcade game movie Rampage (Rotten at 51%), signed on for another video game adaptation this week. That project will be adapted from the World War II third-person shooter Sniper Elite, a franchise whose latest entry, a supernatural spin-off sequel called Zombie Army 4: Dead War, released just last year. The Sniper Elite movie will tell the story of Allied sniper Karl Fairburne, who engages in a cat-and-mouse chase through the streets of London at the height of the Blitz during World War II, as he tries to save British Prime Minister Winston Churchill from a Nazi assassin. Sniper Elite is being produced by one of the Ubisoft executives who was also behind the Assassin s Creed (Rotten at 18%) movie starring Michael Fassbender. On an Apple device?
12 Years A Slave, Shame, and Widows director Steve McQueen has delivered what many consider his most ambitious work yet in the five-part anthology series Small Axe. The project, which airs on BBC One in the U.K. and is released one episode per week on Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. from November 20, tells five different stories set in London’s West Indian community from the 1960s to the 1980s.There’s “Red, White and Blue,” with John Boyega as Leroy Logan, a former scientist turned cop who must deal with extreme racism when he joins the Metropolitan Police Force; “Lovers Rock,” an ode to raucous London house parties of the ’80s for those not welcome at white nightclubs; “Mangrove,” the true story of how police raids on a Caribbean restaurant led to peaceful protests, a set of wrongful arrests, and ultimately a major win against discrimination; and more.Ahead of the series’ release – and, really, this is less a TV series than five thematically linked feature films – Rotten Tomatoes editor Jacqueline Coley spoke to stars Letitia Wright (“Mangrove”), Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn (“Lovers Rock”), Shaun Parkes (“Mangrove”), and Malachi Kirby (“Mangrove”) about working with the Oscar-nominated director, the responsibility of playing game-changing historical figures, and the opportunity to tell stories about this community on a scale rarely seen.Small Axe is available weekly on Amazon Prime Video. King of the Crop: Shazam! Repeats, but Its Final Estimate Falls(Photo by Warner Bros.)As stated last week, Shazam is more DC’s Ant-Man than their Guardians of the Galaxy. To maintain the kind of momentum that would keep it in the universe of Paul Rudd’s character financially, it was hoping for around a 45% drop for its second weekend. Instead it fell 53%. Still good enough to beat this week’s challengers handily, but its hopes of reaching 0 million and beyond fell a bit. Among comic book adaptations to earn between -100 million after ten days, Shazam! joins the company of X-Men, X-Men: First Class, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, The Incredible Hulk, Batman Returns, The Wolverine, and Wanted. Batman Returns is the high bar with a 2 million final tally, while the four films surrounding it on that list grossed between 1-135 million. Shazam!’s second weekend (.1 million) was higher than all of those films except for Batman Returns (.4 million) but its final estimate is now in the 0 million range. Shazam! has grossed over 1 million worldwide to date.Rotten Returns: Laika Is Failed Again, but Not By Critics(Photo by Annapurna Pictures)This story is either sad or infuriating maybe both, depending on who you ask. Ask critics which animated studio they would rather see put out more film – Illumination or Laika – and they re likely to say Laika every day and twice on Sunday. Laika’s output has included Kubo and the Two Strings (97%), Coraline (90%), ParaNorman (87%), Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride (83%), and The Boxtrolls (76%), all of which are Certified Fresh. Yet, since Coraline in 2009, each successive Laika film has grossed less than the last from Coraline’s million down to Kubo’s .Laika jumped ship from Focus Features, a studio whose Laika projects rank as four of the top 12 grossers in their history. Now they put themselves in the hands of Annapurna, who this February partnered with MGM and Orion to release films under the banner of United Artists Releasing. Missing Link (89%) is their first effort, and they opened it to .8 million. In 3,413 theaters. That is a lower per-theater-average (,712) than Matthew McConaughey’s Serenity (,724). It is a worse average than Focus Features got for Neil Jordan’s Greta (,859). Focus opened Ratchet Clank to .8 million for Pete’s sake. While UA Releasing has some high profile remakes and sequels on the horizon (Child’s Play, Bill Ted Face the Music, Bond 25), this is a really disconcerting start. Especially for the animated company, which deserves better. The Top 10 and Beyond: Hellboy Hits Bottom with Critics and Audiences(Photo by Summit Entertainment)Another film that could have gone into the “Rotten Returns” section was the reboot of Hellboy. From Sony to Universal to Lionsgate, no studio has been able to make this character a thing. Despite two efforts from Gullermo del Toro, both 2004’s Hellboy and 2008’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army were financial failures, albeit ones with PG-13 ratings. The new R-rated Hellboy may not be family-friendly, but it wasn’t critic-friendly either. Garnering just a 15% on the Tomatometer, Hellboy is one of the worst-reviewed wide releases of 2019, ahead of only A Madea Family Funeral (13%), Replicas (10%), and this week’s release of After (13%), which Aviron opened in 2,138 theaters to bigger numbers than Missing Link (.2 million).Back to Hellboy, though. It continues Lionsgate’s history of lackluster returns for comic book adaptations. Red was their biggest success, opening to .7 million and finishing with .3 million. Its sequel was not as well-received, with lines of and .8 million. Kick-Ass was .8 and million. Hellboy could not even reach their PG-13 Thomas Jane Punisher film, which opened to .8 million just two weeks after del Toro s Hellboy opened to .1 milion in 2004. The Punisher finished with just .8 million. Neil Marshall’s million production of Hellboy may not even make it to million domestic, which is less than Hellboy II’s opening weekend alone of .5 million.Disney’s Dumbo is also headed for a rough landing. The live-action version of their 1941 classic is up to just .9 million after 17 days. That puts it in league with Apollo 13, Borat, Home Alone 2, The World is Not Enough, District 9, Blades of Glory, Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, Fifty Shades Freed, Superbad, Doctor Dolittle, The Fugitive; films between -91 million in the same period. Among that crop, only Fifty Shades Freed made less (.1 million) in its third weekend than Dumbo (.1 million). That is putting Tim Burton’s 0 million production somewhere between 0-110 million. With only 6 million worldwide, the film could end up being another 0+ million loser for Disney. Fortunately for them, not only is Avengers: Endgame on the horizon, but Captain Marvel still has the 21st best total ever after 38 days with 5 million, and with .064 billion worldwide, it s now the 28th highest-grossing film ever.(Photo by Paramount Pictures)The new Pet Sematary adaptation is following the path suggested in last week’s column. With a 59% drop in its second weekend to million, the film is now in danger of coming up short of the .4 million of the 1989 film. The 2019 version is in league with other horror films like The Omen (2006), Evil Dead (2013), Gothika, White Noise, Dracula Untold, Happy Death Day, and The Cell – each of which had between -42 million after ten days of release, and only The Cell and Gothika made more than .4 million. With The Curse of La Llorona set to take a chunk of the horror fans away from a film that dropped from 82% on the Tomatometer after its closing night SXSW premiere to 58% by the end of its first weekend, an under million haul next weekend could seal its fate in missing the 1989 goal. Nevertheless, it s sill on pace to turn a profit for Paramount.Doing better with horror fans is Jordan Peele’s Us, which is over 3 million, officially passing last year’s Blumhouse production of Halloween. The film is still million ahead of last year’s A Quiet Place after 24 days, but it has fallen behind its fourth weekend take (-to-.9 million.) That is also less than Get Out’s fourth weekend (.4 million), though Us is still million ahead of the pace of Peele’s debut. Us looks to land somewhere in the 0 million range. Universal also managed to open Little this weekend ahead of Hellboy. rt of carries the spirit of Voldemort, in part, and they have this unity, and I had this idea that Harry and Voldemort are at the top of a school tower, and as they confronted each other Dan would grab Ralph, and actually pull him off this tower, and they would apparate around the school together, and as they apparated around the school together, we d explore this weird visual synthesis that exists between the two of them, and they d eventually tumble down into the courtyard. Read David Yates full interview about the confrontation between Harry and Voldemort.Avengers Assemble in New York from Marvel's the Avengers (2012) 91%Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige: “The moment I realized that this could be an iconic moment, not just for the MCU, but for these kind of films, was on the mix stage. When the effects were final and when Alan Silvestri’s amazing score was coming in, and the timing, and the experience of watching the whole movie up to that point That[ s when] I got chills and I realized Joss had pulled it off. Read Kevin Feige s full interview about the Avengers Assemble moment. The government lobby scene from The Matrix (1999) 88%Stunt double Chad Stahelski: “So Keanu and I both had to back up to our number one marks and pretty much try to do all the choreography and the one-handed cartwheel and all the shooting with your eyes closed. Because once the squibs started going off, you couldn’t see anything. You had to count your steps and kinda go into it. And I remember looking at him and going Uh, OK, this could be a little tricky. And he’s like Eh, OK. And he nailed it first take. So that was pretty cool.”Read Chad Stahelski s full interview about the government lobby moment. I See Dead People  from The Sixth Sense (1999) 86%Actor Haley Joel Osment: “There was an even-more morbid element to that scene that actually ended up getting cut out: When I tell Bruce my secret, [at] the last shot of the scene they pull back from my bed and you look out the window where you can see another entire wing of the hospital and in every window there is a person with some horrible injury or someone who’s gone pale because, you know, being in a hospital is a pretty heavy place for a ghost to linger around in this world. So, you pull back and you see all these people lined up on the other side of the frame.”Read Haley Joel Osment s full interview about the I see dead people moment. The Chest-Waxing Scene from The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) 85%Writer-director Judd Apatow: “I basically set up four cameras and we had some basic beats we wanted to hit. We knew that we had to get Steve s real reactions, so we shot it like a documentary. We wrote out tons of curses, because we did plan the main joke to be that he would just curse right into her face. And we also made lists of words that weren t real curses that sounded like curses. That s how we got to Steve screaming ‘Kelly Clarkson!’ Off to the side, Seth Rogen had made this enormous list of curses, and I would just yell them out to Steve, and each time they ripped the hair off of something he would scream out one of the curses.”Read Judd Apatow s full interview about the chest-waxing moment. No Man s Land from Wonder Woman (2017) 93%Director Patty Jenkins: “I think that the biggest reason I was obsessed with [the scene] was really from a character place. From Diana’s point of view, it is: What is the birth of a superhero? Just like Superman pulling his shirt open the first time and revealing the ‘S,’ these are definitive, incredible moments, and so I knew that Wonder Woman needed an incredible moment and because we were doing her origin story, it really needed to be the moment that she made the decision to go from being a younger person who was hopeful and idealistic to one who decides to be a hero despite knowing more. And so in this story, that was what I cared about.”Read Patty Jenkins full interview about the No Man s Land moment.  Santa, here? I know him! from Elf (2003) 85%Actor Will Ferrell: “That kind of exclamation of ‘Santa!’ and screaming it, that was just my articulation of Buddy literally taking that piece of news [that Santa is coming] at face value and [thinking] what would be his literal reaction. A man without a country in this strange land finally getting to see someone he knows really well – it would just be the most jubilant reaction ever. I know that the first couple takes really took people by surprise, that I would go that big with it. And all of that, ‘Santa, I know him,’ all of that playing around we did, that was all improvised there.”Read Will Ferrell and director Jon Favreau s full interviews about the Santa, here? moment.

Ghcxuf Joel Meares for Rotten Tomatoes: How familiar were you with The Sopranos before this opportunity came into your life?William Ludwig: Well, the show ended the year I was born – if you can believe that!?Rotten Tomatoes: I can!Ludwig: So I had a little bit of familiarity with The Sopranos and that it was so legendary, but I never really understood what it meant to people until I got the role and I started doing a lot of research on it. And when we started telling people about it, they were freaking out. And I was like, Wait, what? Oh, no, I ve really got to do good on this one. I watched the first season of The Sopranos with my dad and my mom. And my dad made me cover my eyes during all the Bada Bing parts. And then we watched a few select key important episodes throughout the series. Again, [gestures covering his eyes] for all of the Bada Bing parts.Rotten Tomatoes: You don t share scenes with Michael Gandolfini, who plays teenage Tony, but I know you two did bond. Did you talk to him about the role and the character? What was your relationship like and how did he help you to become Tony/ Anthony Soprano?Ludwig: Michael and I are super close now. The second I booked it, he reached out. He Skyped me. Skype, if you can believe that? He Skyped me. And he really helped me understand who Tony is as a character and what he means to so many people. And he helped me embody all the mannerisms, like the hunchback and how his face scrunches up like this [scrunches face] when he talks.(Photo by Barry Wetcher / © Warner Bros. )Rotten Tomatoes: How would you yourself describe Anthony as he is in the movie, at age 11? If he was a buddy of yours at school and someone said, Oh, what s Tony like? , what would you say?Ludwig: He s someone who just wants to do the right thing. He wants to help people. He wants to be there for people that he cares about. And he s really innocent in the beginning of the movie. And you can see throughout the 😈😈
