As movie theaters remain closed and studios continue to shuffle their schedules around accordingly, events like San Diego Comic-Con and the Telluride Film Festival have likewise made adjustments to their normal operating protocol to highlight upcoming films and keep fans informed. On August 22, the good folks at Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment will join the fray with a 24-hour streaming event called DC FanDome, hoping to capture the attention stay-at-home audiences with exclusive previews of their upcoming films, TV series, games, and comics.Like Comic-Con@Home, DC FanDome will be entirely free and online, and it will be broadcast in nine languages, with panels packed with talent, exclusive sneak peeks, exciting announcements, and more, but it s going to be a little difficult to navigate if you don t know what you re looking for. With that in mind, here s what you ll need to know before you check out DC FanDome.8/19 UPDATE: DC Entertainment has just announced that the schedule has changed for DC FanDome, effectively splitting the event across two dates. Now, only the Hall of Heroes panels (see below for more info) will be broadcast on Saturday, August 22, and the 8-hour block of programming will repeat two more times over the course of the 24-hour period. After that, the rest of the virtual experience (WatchVerse, InsiderVerse, YouVerse, FunVerse, and KidsVerse) will stream online on Saturday, September 12. During the latter, viewers will also be able to create their own curated schedule (see here). Otherwise, the rest of the info below is still correct. When does it start, and how can I watch it?You will be able to stream it live starting at 10am PT on August 22. Most viewers can access it via www.DCFanDome.com, but families with younger viewers can also check out www.DCKidsFanDome.com for more kid-friendly content. Will it cost me money? No, DC FanDome is entirely free. However, there will be a shop section where you will be able to browse various products and collectibles for sale.

0.91.2 7月喜迎Alita: Battle Angel (2019) 61% Rating: PG-13, for sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language. It may look colorful and lively, and the main character may seem inviting with her wide, inquisitive eyes. But Alita: Battle Angel is really quite violent and not meant for young viewers. Fans of the manga series that inspired the movie probably won’t be surprised to learn that. And granted, much of the graphic violence happens to cyborgs who bleed blue, but still – they’re imbued with human characteristics, and we’re meant to care about them as such. So when they get stabbed or sliced in half or dismembered entirely, the imagery can be shocking. The visual effects and elaborate action sequences in the film from director Robert Rodriguez and writer-producer James Cameron are really the main reason to see Alita – that, and the game, physical performance from Rosa Salazar as the title character. She’s an abandoned cyborg whom a doctor (Christoph Waltz) brings back to life in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic society. But she can’t remember who she was; she only knows she has formidable warrior instincts and abilities that make her both powerful and a target. Alita also takes part in a Rollerball-type game that’s fast-paced and treacherous. She’s basically in constant peril. Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, and Jackie Earle Haley are among the impressive supporting cast. I didn’t bring my 9-year-old son with me to the Alita screening I attended, and I was glad afterward. It’s a big, mindless spectacle, but it really earns its PG-13 rating.
General Magic (2017) : This highly praised documentary tells the backstory of the secretive Silicon Valley start-up that, among other things, shipped the first smartphone way back in 1994. It’s Certified Fresh at 100% on the Tomatometer. The Biggest Little Farm (2018) : Emmy-winning director John Chester’s documentary about a couple who leave their Los Angeles apartment for the farm life is Certified Fresh with 93%. All Is True (2018) : Director-star Kenneth Branagh returns to his love of the Bard in this biopic about William Shakespeare’s final days. It is getting mostly favorable reviews, with 76% on the Tomatometer. Pasolini (2014) : Willem Dafoe stars in this biopic about the final days of Italian writer, director, and poet Pier Paolo Pasolini, which is Certified Fresh at 71%. Asako I & II (2018) : Director and co-writer Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s romantic drama is about a woman caught in a love triangle with two men who look the same but have different personalities. It is at 68% on the Tomatometer. My Son (2017) : Guillaume Canet and Melanie Laurent star in this drama about a man searching for details after his child mysteriously disappears. It is at 58% on the Tomatometer. Charlie Says (2018) : Director Mary Harron’s largely panned drama about the three women sentenced to death for the Manson murders – Matt Smith plays the cult leader – is at 41%. The Professor and the Madman (2019) : Mel Gibson and Sean Penn star in this biopic about the two men who created the Oxford English Dictionary. Critics are shrugging; it’s at 33%.
Of all the directors on this list, the one that will likely benefit most from this strange season is Eliza Hittman. Her drama, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, a BBC production distributed by Focus Features shortly after the pandemic hit, is a quiet indie about two girls who travel from Pennsylvania to New York to seek an abortion. It cements Hittman as more than just an indie darling and pushes her forward as one of the best up-and-coming female directors in Hollywood. The film is a difficult watch, which also makes it difficult to promote with glitzy cocktail parties, given its serious subject matter not that anyone is throwing any glitzy cocktail parties anytime soon. But it’s undeniably moving, and it has serious social and political resonance – both of which rank high with Academy voters. Following the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg and a renewed focus on the Supreme Court decision of Roe v. Wade, Never Rarely Sometimes Always can build a compelling narrative on why it is the movie of the moment and worthy of recognition. In a typical year, a low-budget indie with no stars that premiered in the first half of the year would have difficulty staying in the conversation. However, as voters will have time and opportunity to watch titles from the comfort of their homes, it’s reasonable to think they will be able to see smaller hidden gems like this.Chloé Zhao

Ghcxuf After several months of fifth-place ties, March is apparently a much more straightforward month at the movies, as the three most anticipated films earned the top spot, the second spot, and the third spot, respectively, in every single one of our social media polls and our tally of Want-to-See votes on the site. The leader, far and away, is the latest entry in the MCU and the last entry in the franchise before it all comes to a head in Avengers: Endgame but it was followed up by another terrifying treat from Jordan Peele and a live-action retelling of an animated Disney classic. Read on for the full list.1. Captain Marvel (2019) 79%(Photo by Marvel Studios)22,056 Want-to-See Votes#1 pick by our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter fansOpens March 8Coming in at the top spot in all of our metrics was, unsurprisingly, the big-screen introduction of Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Set in the 1990s, the film is an origin story for the character, who crashes on Earth and searches for answers to questions about her past, even as she attempts to thwart the evil plans of an alien race. Captain Marvel also serves as a lead-in to next month s Avengers: Endgame, so fans are likely curious to see how she fits into the narrative.Watch Trailer2. Us (2019) 93%(Photo by Claudette Barius/Universal Pictures)655 Want-to-See Votes#2 pick by our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter fansOpens March 22After the breakout success of 2017 s Get Out, audiences were eager to see where Jordan Peele would go next. The answer lies somewhere in a bloody pile of red jumpsuits and golden scissors. Us, which headlines the opening night of South by Southwest this year, centers on a young family on vacation who are terrorized by evil doppelgangers of themselves. If the creepy-as-hell trailers are any indication, it certainly looks like Peele is going to beat the sophomore slump.Watch Trailer3. Dumbo (2019) 46%(Photo by Walt Disney Studios)544 Want-to-See Votes#3 pick by our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter fansOpens March 29Securing the third spot in all of our metrics for the month of March is the first of three (yes, three!) live-action remakes of classic Disney films (the other two are Aladdin in May and The Lion King in July). Tim Burton takes the helm for this retelling of the story of a lonely circus elephant who learns to fly, thanks to his abnormally oversized ears. The effects look spectacular, and an all-star cast that includes Michael Keaton, Colin Farrell, Eva Green, Danny DeVito, and Alan Arkin means this could potentially be great.Watch Trailer4. Climax (2018) 68%(Photo by A24)418 Want-to-See Votes#4 pick by our Facebook fans, #5 pick by our Twitter fansOpened March 1 In Theaters NowFrench director Gaspar Noé (Irreversible, Enter the Void) makes it his business to push boundaries, and his past films have never been shy about the graphic depiction of provocative content, whether based in sex or violence. His latest film is an acid trip nightmare, literally, that follows the members of a dance troupe as a night of rehearsal devolves into utter chaos after a number of them unknowingly ingest LSD-spiked sangria. The film, which opened last Friday, features stunning choreography and virtuosic camera work, and it s already Certified Fresh. But be warned it s not for the faint of heart.Watch Trailer5. Triple Frontier (2019) 71%(Photo by Netflix)192 Want-to-See Votes#4 pick by our Instagram and Twitter fansOpens March 6, Streaming on Netflix March 13The fifth most anticipated film of March is something of a surprise, mostly because it went through a troubled, years-long development process that saw a number of stars join and leave the project since its inception in 2010. That said, the final line-up is rather impressive: Ben Affleck, Pedro Pascal, Oscar Isaac, Garrett Hedlund, and Charlie Hunnam star in this action thriller written and directed by J.C. Chandor (All is Lost) about a group of military vets who reunite for a dangerous heist in South America. The film will premiere in theaters on March 6 before it hits Netflix the next week, on March 13.Watch TrailerLike this? 九游会手机端 Love spectacle? Love splosions? Love slow-mo? Then you probably love the output of directors Zack Snyder and Michael Bay. But which blockbuster director’s output is the most lovable? That’s what we’re asking in our fieriest episode of Vs. ever. Host Mark Ellis pits the two directors against each across five rounds: Box office performance; Tomatometer and Audience Scores; Iconic Character; Memorable Moments; and a special wildcard category. Will it be the man who gave us jacked-up Spartans, hyped-up zombies, and a very torqued-up Bruce Wayne? Or will the maestro behind Transformers, Bad Boys, and Armageddon get the W? Stranger Things returns to Netflix on July 4, and the streaming service has finally released a full trailer for the show s new season. We ve been tracking season 3 info all year, but the two minutes and 45 seconds of footage in the trailer are the clearest look we ve had yet — and provided eight new revelations about the upcoming season, whose tagline reads one summer can change everything. David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Dacre Montgomery and Joe Keery all return for season 3, and they ll be joined by new cast members Cary Elwes, Jake Busey, Maya Hawke, and Francesca Reale. While the few teases Netflix has released have — in true Stranger Things fashion —been vague, the new trailer revealed some telling information about the upcoming season. Here s everything we know about the mysteries set to unfold in Stranger Things season 3.1. DUSTIN IS HOME FROM CAMP(Photo by Netflix)Dustin (Matarazzo) spent part of his summer at Camp Know Where (which, judging by the icon, is a computer camp), complete with classic 80s uniform of khaki shorts and a green-and-yellow ringer T-shirt.The other kids surprise him upon his return home, and Eleven (Brown) controls his robot toys to make him follow them into the living room. There was probably an easier way to surprise Dustin without giving herself a bloody nose.2. THE KIDS HAVE A SUMMER PROJECT(Photo by Netflix)Phone home much? The kids’ summer project seems to be putting up a big antenna on the top of a hill. Given all the creatures the group has encountered without seeking them out, you’d think they d enjoy being off the grid, but we ll see what this antenna is all about.3. ELEVEN AND MAX ARE BONDING(Photo by Netflix)Eleven spent most of season 2 separated from the boys, so this summer is the first chance she’s had in a while to play with other kids. It looks like she’s getting really close to Max (Sink) as they play in her bedroom, then head to the mall food court — where Eleven looks like a kid going to Disneyland for the first time. They also slide in between the escalators. Don’t try this at home, kids.4. THE TOWN FAIR IS A DANGEROUS PLACEWe knew about the swimming pool featured prominently in the trailer, but not Hawkins town-wide Fun Fair (or, rather, Mayor Kline’s Fun Fair). Kline (Elwes) hosts a Fourth of July event at the fair in the trailer, and there’s a gunman stalking the hall of mirrors.5. HOPPER HAS A DATE(Photo by Netflix)We see Hopper (Harbour) all dressed up (in a nice Miami Vice–style light suit) at a table for two, but his date isn’t there yet. We hope he hasn’t been stood up. It s nice to see Hopper s casual summerwear, too, as he tells Nancy (Ryder), “I want you to feel like this can still be your home.”6. THERE S POLITICAL TURMOILThere’s a big protest outside the mayor’s office with homemade signs reading “Mayor Swine,” “Support Downtown,” and “Hawkins is Downtown.” If the 80s taught us anything, it s that small towns face an uphill battle.7. BILLY HARGROVE IS ON THE PROWL(Photo by Netflix)Summer at the Hawkins pool is a great chance for Billy (Montgomery) to show off his abs. He s making eyes at the lifeguard (Reale) in the trailer, so why is he macking on Karen Wheeler (Cara Buono) in the above photo?8. OF COURSE, MORE MONSTERSWe get one clear shot of a big new monster growling in the hallway — and it s not even the Shadow Monster, who’s still lurking around the Upside Down. And in one of the shorter, fast-paced clips at the end of the trailer, it looks like Billy has a nasty bite that’s getting infected.9. STARCOURT MALL IS OPENING IN HAWKINSNetflix previously released a trailer featuring Hawkins fictional Starcourt Mall, which includes such staple 80s stores as The Gap, Waldenbooks, and Sam Goody music. Only The Gap still exists here in 2018. In the food court, we got a glimpse of Steve Harrington (Keery) working at the fictional ice cream shop Scoops Ahoy, along with a new character Robin (Hawke). Hope there s no demogorgon in the Rocky Road.10. IT’S SUMMER(Photo by Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Netflix)Seasons 1 and 2 of Stranger Things both took place when the kids were in school, with season 2 even culminating at the winter ball. So it’s about time they enjoy a summer break.“It’s about the swimming pool and campfires and parades and Fourth of July and fireworks,” Shawn Levy told Variety at PaleyFest in March 2018. “So there’s kind of a poppy fun to season 3 that’s really enjoyable before things inevitably turn super dark.”On the red carpet for Netflix s annual FYSEE event in 2018, Brown was coy about Eleven’s appreciation of the summer: “Eleven has a great time with summer. That’s all I can say.”11. WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SUMMER TO SEE ITStranger Things season 3 was supposed to return in 2018 (and was filmed and ready to go), but Netflix pushed the premiere to summer 2019. Netflix Vice President of Original Series Cindy Holland told the Television Critics Association that the production team needed more time to create bigger visual effects.“There are more special effects, and I think it’s going to be a really exciting season, but it just takes a little more time,” Holland said. “It’s a hand-crafted show. The Duffer Brothers and Shawn Levy have worked really hard, and they understand the stakes are high. They want to deliver something bigger and better than what they did last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season, worth the wait.”12. IT S 1985(Photo by Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Netflix)Jumping ahead to the summer sets season 3 firmly in 1985, Levy told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2018. For those of you who didn’t get to live through that glorious summer, it was the time when Back to the Future, The Goonies, and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure came out. Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp suspects the boys have seen those movies.“Yeah, of course,” Schnapp told Rotten Tomatoes at FYSEE. “There are so many references from different things from the ’80s. They do such a good job of it.”13. THE POOL HAS A MYSTERIOUS NEW LIFEGUARD(Photo by Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Netflix)The show has cast Francesca Reale (Haters Back Off!) as the Hawkins Community Pool Lifeguard, Deadline reported. The lifeguard is said to “become a centerpiece of a dark mystery.”Other new casting includes Elwes as Mayor Kline and Jake Busey as a reporter for the Hawkins Post, whom we see glimpses of in the new trailer.14. MAYA HAWKE JOINS THE CAST(Photo by Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Netflix)Casting director Carmen Cuba said on a panel that Hawke (PBS s Little Women), whose character is being described as an “alternative girl,” is a true talent. (Plus, judging from both the teaser video and the trailer, she wears a Scoops Ahoy uniform well.)“What’s great about her, just like these kids and the other one, is that she’s just an individual,” Cuba said. “There is not another human on this Earth like Maya Hawke — her rhythm, her energy, her humor.”Whoever Hawke plays has scenes with Eleven too, Brown revealed during the panel.“She’s so good,” Brown said. “I remember the Duffers and I looked at each other and were like, ‘Wow, she’s really good.’ I want to say so much more, but I can’t.”15. SIBLINGS HAVE BIGGER ROLES(Photo by Netflix )Priah Ferguson has been made a series regular, so expect to see Lucas little sister Erica hassling the boys a lot more. Take that, nerds.Levy also told THR that Keery would have more to do as Steve Harrington. Even though he s not related to any of the boys, Steve protecting them as a father figure worked out so well that they’re going with that.“We’ll definitely get to see some more of Steve Harringon in season 3,” Levy said. “I’ll just say we won’t be abandoning the Dad Steve magic.”16. THE COUPLES FROM THE DANCE ARE STILL COUPLES(Photo by Netflix)The winter ball saw Eleven and Mike (Wolfhard) pair off and share a kiss, and Lucas (McLaughlin) and Max kiss too. Those couples are still together in the summer, Levy told THR. That does not include, however, Dustin and Nancy (Dyer), who was being nice at the ball, but promised Dustin the girls would appreciate him when they’re older. Brown also told Variety more recently that season 3 finds Eleven adjusting to her human side.“It’s really a coming of age for her and understanding what being a normal teenage girl is,” Brown said.17. THE SHADOW MONSTER HASN’T GONE ANYWHERE(Photo by Netflix)The kids may have vanquished the demogorgon in season 1 and demodog in season 2, but the big shadow monster is still waiting for them.“The shadow monster is still lurking up there out there in the Upside Down,” Levy told Variety. “He is determined to find a way to achieve his goals.”18. THEY’VE BEEN FILMING SINCE APRILNetflix released this video of the Stranger Things cast gathering for the first season 3 table read back in April of 2018, and confirmed that production began on April 20 of that year.19. EVERYONE’S GETTING PAID MORE(Photo by Charley Gallay/Getty Images for Netflix)The first bit of season 3 news ever reported concerned the pay raises given to the Stranger Things cast: The main young cast got bumps to between 0,000 and 0,000 an episode, while Ryder and Harbour could have gotten as much as 0,000, Deadline reported. They’ve earned it, making Stranger Things Netflix’s biggest original series hit. Even Dyer and Heaton joined the six-figures club, with between 0,000-150,000 per episode.Stranger Things seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on Netflix.

九游会手机端 (Photo by @ Paramount, @ Warner Bros. Pictures, @ Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, @ HBO, @ Amazon )Warning: The below contains spoilers for Avengers: Endgame. It’s hard to imagine anyone besides Robert Downey Jr. playing our beloved Iron Man — the wise-cracks, the cockiness, the chemistry with Pepper, and that ability to break us in half with grief in the end. In truth, however, the most pitch-perfect casting in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe almost did not come to be. RDJ, as his Avengers castmates call him, was not Marvel’s first choice to play the billionaire/genius/playboy/philanthropist/superhero.The Oscar-nominated star was always known to be talented, but he wasn t a mega-star. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige once told Rotten Tomatoes that back then, the actor  was one of the best actors on the planet — [not] necessarily one of the biggest marquee stars on the planet. And at the time of his casting — think back to the mid-2000s — quite a few other A-listers were hoping to don the iconic red and gold suit. An impassioned plea from director Jon Favreau and casting director Sarah Halley Finn to the studio brass was what finally persuaded them to move forward with Downey Jr. In a different world, without that push, Iron Man might have been played by Tom Cruise, who was associated with the project for years. That’s right: Tony Stark was nearly played by the Top Gun star!We may like to think the actors who play ‘Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ are irreplaceable, but many of their now-synonymous roles nearly went to other actors. Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, and Chris Pratt were all accomplished actors before their MCU debuts, but none had the worldwide recognition they have now, following 22 films and billion at the global box office. Their casting was a risk in many ways – but one that paid off. If not for talented casting agents, circumstance, and a little luck, the final battle in Avengers: Endgame might have looked very different indeed. As Endgame continues its global box office domination, on track to be the highest-grossing film ever, let s take a look back at what might have been. Here are 10 Avengers castings that could have totally changed the MCU — and perhaps some other franchises.Black Widow, Played by Emily Blunt(Photo by @Warner Bros. Pictures, Merrick Morton/©Paramount, )This is about as near an actual casting as you can get. It s not hard to picture the Edge of Tomorrow star decked out in Natasha s black spandex and sporting her red locks, but contractual obligations and, oddly enough, Meryl Streep thwarted the plan to cast Emily Blunt. When she signed onto The Devil Wears Prada, Blunt had to agree to a two-picture deal. Fox invoked the clause for Jack Black s Gulliver s Travels, and the English actress was forced to turn down the role of the Russian spy who joined the MCU in Iron Man 2. Scarlett Johansson is Black Widow, and we wouldn t have it any other way, but given how fantastic Blunt was as Rita Vrataski it does make us pause to ponder what if  Captain America, Played by John KrasinskiIf nearly having Mary Poppins in black spandex was a jaw-dropper, imagine having Jim Halpert from The Office sporting the star and shield. Since the NBC comedy went off the air in 2013, John Krasinski has done quite a bit of action work. He may be Jack Ryan now in Amazon s series of the same name, but the idea of him playing Captain America in 2011 was harder to picture. Evans was always Marvel s top choice, but he famously turned down the role — twice. While Evans was waffling on the part, the studio proceeded with Kransinski until he and Chris Hemsworth s abs (according to the video above) decided that it was not gonna happen.Doctor Strange, Played by Joaquin Phoenix(Photo by Jason Smith/Everett Collection, @ Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)Joaquin Phoenix s first foray into comic-book movies, Todd Phillips  Joker, has fans almost hyperventilating — but in a different universe, he might have already had some experience in the genre. Back in 2014, it was reported that Phoenix was in final talks to play the sorcerer supreme. Many supposed at the time that the indie favorite turned down the role of Stephen Strange, which eventually went to Benedict Cumberbatch, because he was not interested in big-budget action flicks. (Guessing they must not have seen Gladiator.) In truth, the Walk the Line actor recently admitted that he enjoys some of the MCU films and he isn t a cinephile or snob; in reference to his brush with Doctor Strange, he said,  I think everybody was really happy with how things turned out. Iron Man, played by Nicolas Cage(Photo by Patti Perret/©Alchemy/Courtesy Everett Collection, ©Paramount/Courtesy Everett Collection)When Iron Man was in early development in the 1990s, many at Marvel wanted Tom Cruise to play the role, and it was not the most out-of-left-field casting idea for the character who would become the heart of the Avengers. But believe it or not, Nicolas Cage was also once part of the Tony Stark conversation. A name that invariably pops up with just about every superhero film adaptation — or did at the time — Cage was approached to play everything from the Scarecrow to Superman, and even the Green Goblin. The unabashed comic book obsessive did get to play a superhero in Ghost Rider. While it would be a fun novelty to picture him with the glowing core heart and hear him spouting Tony s clever quips, we feel the the leather-clad flaming-skull bounty hunter for the damned was an infinitely better fit for Cage s over-the-top antics. The Hulk, Played by Edward Norton (again)(Photo by ©Universal/courtesy Everett Collection)Can you have a reverse near-casting? Edward Norton played the Green Rage Monster and the mild-mannered scientist in the standalone Incredible Hulk film, but was replaced by Mark Ruffalo in the first Avengers team-up. Rumors abounded, of course, with some speculating there was a rift between the American History X actor and Marvel. Marvel Studios co-president Feige released a statement before The Avengers cast was announced at Comic-Con in 2011 that put any speculation to bed: Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members. The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble. So Norton was out and Ruffalo in. According to Ruffalo s retelling, he didn t find out until moments before the convention. Had things gone another way, and Norton stayed on as Banner, perhaps fewer people would be confused as to why The Incredible Hulk is officially part of the MCU.Drax, Played by Jason Momoa(Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection, @ Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)No one seemed happier that Jason Momoa was playing Aquaman than Jason Momoa, but he nearly took on an MCU role before picking up the trident. The role of the ultra-literal Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy catapulted Dave Bautista from WWE star to movie megastar, and, according to the former wrestler, he had to fight for it —and was terrified of auditioning. Momoa, who had just wrapped playing the hulking Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones when the movie was being cast, said he was tired of playing brutes and looking out for different roles. After auditioning, our future Aquaman therefore passed on Drax, opening the door for Bautista. Momoa has since said the role of of Drax the Destroyer was perfectly cast. Thor, Played by Liam Hemsworth(Photo by Dee Cercone/Everett Collection)The Thor casting process was a real family affair. Before he played Gale in The Hunger Games, Liam Hemsworth was on the shortlist to portray the Asgardian God of Thunder. He got to the final four, and Liam joked in a late-night interview that he bombed the last audition. His failure did, however, help his brother snag the part. After Liam s failed test, the two exchanged notes on what they were looking for in the part. Sir Kenneth Branagh was impressed with the older brother s audition, and the relatively unknown Aussie actor was deemed the only one worthy to wield Mjolnir – for a time.Spider-Man, Played by Timothée Chalamet  According to Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet, every up-and-coming young male actor auditioned for the role of Spider-Man. Lucas Hedges, Ansel Elgort, and Nat Wolff all read for the part, but the New York-born Chalamet, who loved the character growing up, was for a time fixated on becoming the iconic web-slinger. While promoting Call Me By Your Name, he recounted his final audition for Spider-Man: Homecoming. “I read twice, and I left sweating in a total panic,” Chalamet said. “I called my agent and I said, ‘I thought about this a lot, and I have to go back and knock on that door and read again,’ and he told me the story of Sean Young and how in an attempt to become Catwoman [she] had scared everyone away when she showed up at the studio gates in costume.” Persuaded not to let his fandom overtake his better judgment, Chalamet left, and Holland was cast instead.Like this?
